Investigation process
At the request of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), foreign nationals or permanent residents who are believed to have violated the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) under investigation by the Immigration Division (ID) of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB).
We can help you with investigations if you are inadmissible or on a removal order because you:
- violated IRPA
- pose a security threat
- violated human rights or international rights
- have committed or participated in organized crime
- have made false statements, for example using a false identity
- have health problems (in some cases)
- do not have enough money to support yourself
- accompany a family member who is inadmissible
We can represent you during detention reviews if you are detained for the following reasons:
- Identity
- Risk of flight
- Danger to the public

- Appeal the removal order to the Immigration Appeal Division (IAD) of the IRB
